DREAMS-7: Thermal Electronics Testbed & Imaging Experiment (aka Got two tanks of Helium, some surplus satellite patch heaters mission)

Launch: June 20, 2009 at 10:38am -- Visual Recovery at 12:04pm. We almost could have caught it!

D7 -- The Movie, 45MB (click to watch, right click to save) :: low quality, 5MB

Mission Goals:

Multiple imaging systems with an active thermal system

Use Digipeat capability of the TNC

Sound at high altitude experiment

Very Low Friction Bearning Swivel Experiment

Mission Statistics:

Primary APRS packet efficiency, 94.2% (180 out of 191 packets per hour received on the ground)

54.1 minutes to burst at 91,646.9 feet altitude, 28.1 minutes to reach the ground, total linear distance = 23.5 miles, maximum horizontal speed, maximum horizontal speed = 57 mph, maximum vertical speed = 99.1 mph down, 31 mph upward, Total payload = 10.7 pounds, Lift = 21.5 pounds, Free Lift = 10.8 pounds (we thought it would burst lower!)
